Pragmatic Play as Developer and the Olympus Theme
Pragmatic Play, founded in 2015 and licensed by regulators including the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority, built Gates of Olympus as a cornerstone of its pay-anywhere portfolio. The studio framed the release publicly as a journey to "the mythical home of the Greek gods", designed entirely around Zeus and Mount Olympus.
The visual identity leans on loud mythological imagery: an animated Zeus floating on the right of the screen, purple skies, golden architectural columns, marble structures, and glowing gem symbols in blue, green, yellow, purple and red.
Sound design does a lot of work here too. An orchestral score with choral harmonies, rising strings, bells and crackling lightning effects swells whenever multiplier orbs land or tumble sequences chain together.
Research into Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) design points in a consistent direction on this.
This matters in practice. The same celebration plays for a ₹40 return on a ₹100 spin as for a genuine multiplier hit, which is exactly why players overestimate how often they are actually winning. I noticed this myself during testing: after roughly 200 demo spins the screen felt generous, while the credit meter said otherwise.
